A little bit of country and motown

We had a wonderful day at the New York State Fair today!  Working with great acts always makes the day go well and quick.  I love those days. =)  It also helped that I got 9 hours of sleep last night.

We kicked off the morning with Midtown Men.  What a great group of guys!  They are the original four of the Jersey Boys broadway show.  All of them have had many successes outside of the show as well.  I actually saw one of them in I believe an episode of Law and Order last fall.  It was great to see the reaction they got not only from the crowd but everyone backstage as well.  Ronnie Dunn's folks arrived early and we thrilled to see them and the show.  They do songs from Frankie Vallie all the way to The Beach Boys and reminisce about their time on broadway.  With their huge crowd of 6,000 and a funny, great vocal and band show they definitely topped my list for the best 2:00PM show we've had here in the three years we've been booking for the New York State Fair.

We quickly loaded in Ronnie Dunn and were ready for the 8:00PM show.  They are a great crew to work with and I'm glad we had good weather for them, unlike in Iowa.  Ronnie is very down to earth and is happy to be doing a grass roots project.  He was taken back when he first walked on stage and saw the size of the crowd.  Another great crowd of 10,000!  Between here and the Journey show at the grandstand we brought in over 20,000 people today.  Ronnie puts on a great show with hits from B&D and his own.
