Fireball

Well another title that suites two parts of the day.  This day couldn't have gone smoother with Reba and Jerrod Niemann.  I was already looking forward to this day just because Reba is one of my favorite artists of all time.  Everyone was laid back, easy to work with, a not one bit demanding (once we got past the point that Reba was NOT going to have a police escort).  It certainly made my day when I was able to take a nap while sitting outside.  Everyone had caught up and let's say...I wasn't the only one. =)  I got sit and listen of the production managers experiences with Reba over the past 20years.  She must be a good boss if you can deal with her that long.  The weather once again went right around us and not a drop fell from the sky.
I did make a smart move today.  I usually spend one of my days "off" sitting at the laundromat for 2-3 hours getting the clothes washed for the next go around.  I decided this time I was going to take the bulk of it to a fluff and fold.  I was happy I did!  For $15 they washed, dried and folded.  WHoohoo!
After a little conflict with a local radio station we got focused on the meet and greets.  One of my favorite parts of the day.   I met Jerrod before we started his.  What a nice guy!  He gave me a huge bear hug to thank me for bringing him. I didn't have the heart to tell him it wasn't me but gladly accepted his appreciation.  =)  After a quick run with his folks we then got Reba's started.  All 50 of them filed through in 15mins.  I got to take the photos (yay me! lol) and they just kept shuffling them.  I spoke with her afterwards and thanked her for coming back to the fair.  It's been 10years since she played the Iowa State Fair.  This is one of the few she's playing this year.
Jerrod ripped through his set, great show!  I tried everything I could to make sure I could watch the majority of Reba's show.  I succeeded!  Our video guru was amazed that I knew the words to almost every song.

Reba McEntire- Iowa State Fair
So why is the title Fireball you ask?  She changed into the infamous red dress for the encore- "Fancy".  The smashing, sparkly dress looks awesome on stage.  As she was taking her bow and saying goodnight we cued the fireworks.  Another quick change and she was in the van and off to the airport.  Yes, she flew private.  I wish I could call my assistants and say "oh yeah, I think we'll be leaving an hour late or so" on my choice not the airlines.  The fireworks masters ended up added a bit to their show tonight.  Fireballs!  Huge puffs of fire coming up out of buckets.  The heat off of those things scared me to death.  Glad I didn't park to close.
During Reba's ride to the airport she and her husband both told the driver that they want to be back before another 10years.  I'll definitely have to get the boss on that!
