The lineup of this show originally consisted of Gary Lewis of the Playboys, Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels, Gary US Bonds, Chuck Negron; formerly of Three Dog Night and the Turtles. Straight from the bell bottom, tie dyed, psychedelic days. They have one band that backs everyone and they even all come out at the end (starting over from the beginning as Eddie says) and singing Happy Together, well together. I had the unfortunate news as soon as they arrived that due to unforeseen circumstances Gary Lewis wasn't going to be able to make it to the show. So we went into recon mode, offering refunds for those that wanted it and making sure that the public was aware of the situation. Fortunately, with a show of a group of people like this it doesn't hurt as bad as a day where it's two separate acts and one cancels. Some folks were probably just as happy to see the rest of the groups. There were a few though that got their refund and didn't see the show. So obviously Gary Lewis has a couple dozen exclusive fans in Iowa.
Even with the change it all worked out to be fine. Except for one small problem. The Turtles were supposed to stretch out their set and add a song to gain some of the time that was lost with Gary leaving. They still wanted to give the same length of show to their fans (even though the fans have no clue how long the show was supposed to be to begin with). However...they forgot. LOL I guess that's what happens when your prime was in the 60's. Who am I kidding, these guys are in the prime of their genre now. They will have been on tour for 4 months straight when they finally make it home. But everyone here had a fabulous time. They even had a dance party in front of the stage. I didn't think I'd have to worry about a mosh pit on oldies night. :)
