Owl City arrived early and just parked and hung out all day. We weren't going to load them in until later in the afternoon anyway so they got to enjoy a bit of the fair. We were dealing with questions and answers about the cancellation all day anyway. People even started rumors that O.A.R. was cancelling tomorrow night. Sheesh! The 2PM was really easy. I didn't have to worry about much because they came in, set up did their thing and left. Owl City has been much of the same. I was actually able to close my door for about an hour and deal with some future bookings and another cancellation for a fair in a couple of weeks. It was an opening act so that wasn't as bad but he wanted to cancel because he got a TV opportunity. I was working on finding a replacement, negotiating that and back and forth between the agent and fair manager. Fortunately, we're just waiting on the final word for a new act to be confirmed and we'll make the switch. Oh wait, the call literally just came in. One more thing off the burner, we're confirmed!
I'm officially a new fan of Owl City. Their show is great, they have a couple of songs that have been hits and their front guy is great. He and the band sound really good. Their crowd was actually probably bigger than it would have been had they played at 2PM. They got to use their lighting package because it was part of the show I do think we lost some that were already planning to see Fall Out Boy in the grandstand but they were hear for the start of the show.
